Remembering Debbie Livingston

With a heavy heart, we share the news that Debbie Livingston of Macon, MO, passed away on November 16, 2022. Debbie was a former member of the MUSIC Board of Directors, and she brought much insight to the Board. She was serious when needed, but she also let you see her wonderful sense of humor. Debbie was selected to the MUSIC Board in September 2010 and retired in June 2012, and during that time, she made real friends while she continued supporting public school districts. Debbie spent nine years as Superintendent at Macon County R-I, having previously served two years at Green City R-I and two years at Macon County R-IV. Before entering the superintendency, Debbie held the position of K-12 principal at Macon County R-IV for three years and had 20 years of experience teaching business at the high school level. She served on the MoASBO Board of Directors, where she has also served on several committees; she was a member of the MASA Small Schools Committee and was a Board member for the Long Branch Area YMCA in Macon. She has previously held positions in the Northeast District Superintendents Association; served on the MSHSAA Appeals Committee, Missouri Center for Safe Schools Advisory Board, and the Board of Directors for the Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon; and was a facilitator for the DESE Leadership Academy.

MUSIC appreciates all her educational contributions. She will be missed by many. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family.
